Kolkata Knight Riders ended their IPL campaign on a high note, beating table-toppers Mumbai Indians by a convincing nine-wicket margin in the dead rubber at Eden Gardens on Monday.
Already out of the semifinal reckoning, the hosts put up a splendid all round show and finished in the sixth position with 14 points behind Delhi Daredevils.
Defending champions Deccan Chargers produced a clinical bowling performance to notch up a thrilling 11-run win over Delhi Daredevils and qualify for the semi-finals in the IPL here on Sunday.
Deccan Chargers defended a modest total of 145 for seven, built around Andrew Symonds' breezy 54, and then shut the semi-final door on Delhi at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium.
This match, in scenic Himachal Pradesh, is of little consequence for Kings XI Punjab, but with four teams vying for three open semi-final spots, this is huge for Chennai Super Kings.
