In a surprise decision, the Indian Cricket Board on Wednesday agreed to lift ban on players associated with the rebel ICL if they severed their links with the Subhash Chandra-owned League.
BCCI President Shashank Manohar said the decision was taken after some ICL players and their support staff met the Board members and admitted committing mistake by joining the rebel League.

The Indian Cricket League's Australian recruits Jason Gillispie and Damien Martyn are all set for a stint with yet another unauthorised Twenty20 event, having signed up with the American Premier League to be held in New York.
According to a report in 'The Age', Gillespie and Martyn have signed with the tournament, scheduled for October, promoted by entrepreneur Jay Mir, the president and chief executive of the American Sports and Entertainment Group.

Former Australia pacer Jason Gillespie claimed the ICC didn't recognise the 'rebel' Indian Cricket League because it didn't want to rub BCCI the wrong way.
"The ICL were hoping for a resolution but the ICC decided to go the other way. They haven't given a reason but the BCCI runs the game, it's that simple," Gillespie said.

Phil Russell's status at the Kingsmead ground is unique - the much-respected curator is probably the only person involved with the IPL and its bitter rival, the ICL.
Russell, who was the ICL's curator last season, is currently an advisor on the ground preparations at Kingsmead for the IPL tournament.

The ICC today rejected the rebel Indian Cricket League's application for recognition, saying the Twenty20 event did not meet its criteria for approving "unofficial cricket". "The ICC Board considered an application for the ICL to be approved as unofficial cricket. The Board went through the application carefully, including assessing it against the criteria within the ICC regulations for approving such events.

Former Pakistan captain Moin Khan has appealed to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to recall the country's Indian Cricket League (ICL) rebels as a response to the lack of support shown by India over the hosting rights of the 2011 World Cup.
Moin's comments came after International Cricket Council (ICC) removed Pakistan as co-hosts of the 2011 World Cup on grounds of security. The PCB blamed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the debacle.

Pakistan captain Younis Khan has denied advising all-rounder Abdul Razzaq to cancel his Indian Cricket League contract to be considered for national selection again. Razzaq, who was banned from the national outfit in 2007 after joining the ICL, had said this week that he cancelled his ICL contract on the advice of Younis.

The Indian Cricket League (ICL) today announced its plan to launch ICL Season-3 with its 'October-November 2009'-Winter edition of the ICL 20s Indian Championship, preceded by the ICL 20-20 Domestic Tournament & conditioning camp for its players. The off-season period will see the ICL Executive Board conducting a detailed "Sports-Performance" evaluation process in regard of its talent pool, player performance and activating its talent-scout initiatives.
