Pakistan captain Younis Khan has denied advising all-rounder Abdul Razzaq to cancel his Indian Cricket League contract to be considered for national selection again.
Razzaq, who was banned from the national outfit in 2007 after joining the ICL, had said this week that he cancelled his ICL contract on the advice of Younis. But Younis denied it. "It is common knowledge that if any ICL player wants to play for Pakistan the first thing he has to do is cancel his contract with them and get an NOC," Younis said. "And secondly what I did say was that if the board cleared ICL players for selection I would definitely like to see some of them back in the team,"he added. Younis said when the players joined ICL, they knew what they were doing. " Even now if they are tied up with the ICL it is because they are getting payments. So it is their decision how they approach this issue. No one can advise them on it," Younis stated. The issue of allowing the ICL players back into the national team is being discussed today at the executive board meeting of the ICC in Dubai. The ICL has threatened to take the ICC to court if they don&apost recognise the league. |
