Pakistan captain Younis Khan has asked his team-mates to push for better IPL contracts following their success in the World Twenty20. "These players are now world champions and highly marketable. There is a higher value to their performances," Younis said. While many in the team turned out for their respective franchises in the inaugural season of the IPL in 2008, political tensions between India and Pakistan prevented them from playing in the second season. Younis, who played for Rajasthan Royals, noted, however, that top players like Kamran Akmal, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Gul and Misbah-ul-Haq were now worth more than the $100,000 contracts they had signed last year.

Adam Gilchrist and his never-say-die Deccan Chargers teammates pipped Royal Challengers Bangalore by six runs in a humdinger to be crowned the second Indian Premier League champions here on Sunday.
Chasing a modest 144 for win, Bangalore rode on cameos from Roelof van der Merwe (32) and Ross Taylor (27) to come near the mark but eventually halted at 137 for nine in the final match.

Gilchrist played like a man on mission, as he slammed the quickest half-century. He raised it in just 17 deliveries. He slammed ten fours and five sixes.
Adam Gilchrist stunning 35 ball 85 runs with 5 sixes and 10 fours carried Deccan Chargers to the finals of IPL. Deccan chargers scored the required 154 runs in 17.4 overs loosing 4 wickets.

Defending champions Rajasthan Royals' hopes of making the semi-finals of the IPL suffered a blow on Sunday with their 14-run loss to Delhi Daredevils here.
Delhi, who are already through to the semi-finals, came up with yet another clinical fare to lead the standings with 18 points, three clear of second placed Chennai Super Kings, with two matches in hand.

Yuvraj Singh grabbed a hat-trick to bowl Kings XI Punjab to a vital one-run victory over Deccan Chargers in an Indian Premier League match here on Sunday.
The left-arm spinner finished with 3-13 off four overs as Punjab restricted Deccan to 133-8 in a thrilling last-over finish after posting 134-7 to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals.Deccan needed 11 to win off the last over, but left-arm seamer Irfan Pathan conceded only nine to build on man-of-the-match Yuvraj's effort.
