India's former skipper Anil Kumble is likely to be named as the captain of the Bangalore Royal Challengers here later on Thursday.
Kevin Pietersen has flown back to England after Wednesday's game against Kolkata Knight Riders as he has to play a Test series against West Indies. Kumble who retired from international cricket last October is said to be the front-runner to replace Pietersen. Jacques Kallis and Mark Boucher are also said to be in the running but the choice may fall on Kumble because of his experience. Rahul Dravid, who led Bangalore last year, is still in India after his wife gave birth to a baby boy recently. There is no clarity on whether he will be returning for the rest of the games despite Wednesday evening's win. Bangalore are in seventh place with two wins and four losses in their six games so far in the second edition of the IPL. |
